Dear Parents/Caregivers:
We are excited to announce that our school will be proudly taking part in the 2021 Terry Fox School Run, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. While this year’s event might still look a little different from previous years, we are excited to share that we have developed creative ways for all of our staff and students to take part. We hope that we can continue to show the great strength and resiliency of our school community with your support of one of our greatest Canadian heroes, Terry Fox. Let’s all use Terry’s message of hope and strength to inspire us during these challenging times.
It is our priority to maintain the safety of students and staff while supporting this wonderful cause. To help support safety measures in all schools, The Terry Fox Foundation has created an online fundraising page for our school as well as provide student/classroom “Terry” activities. Here are some of the ways you can support your child for this year’s Terry Fox event:
1) Donate online at: http://www.terryfox.ca/OurLadyoftheRosaryCSConcord Click the link above to donate or search for our school name at terryfox.org. There is no minimum donation, every dollar counts! Receipts are issued immediately to donors by email.
2) Purchase a shirt or face mask online through https://terryfox.org/terryfox-run/organizers/ and click on “SHOP”.
A few years ago, the Fox family discovered they had Métis ancestry through Terry’s maternal grandmother, Marian Gladue. To honour that connection, this year’s official Terry Fox Run t-shirt has a Métis theme. The artists behind its design are Mallory Blondeau and Kim Vizi-Carmen.
Terry Fox T-Shirt youth 6X or Youth medium ($15.00), Terry Fox T-Shirt adult sizes ($20.00) and Face masks are ($15.00)
The Terry Fox Event at Our Lady of the Rosary will take place on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. This year, the students in separate cohorts will be walking different routes at different staggered times. Our start time will be at 9:00 am with classes being staggered every 15-20 minutes.
The grades 7 and 8 classes will walk the traditional route. (Up Glen Shields to Dufferin, North on Dufferin and back around to Glen Shields). The grades 3-6 will be walking on Glen Shields towards Dufferin and back down on Glen Shields back to the school. The grades K-2 will walk around the school grounds.
In keeping with the school spirit, we ask that all students dress in Terry Fox t-shirts from the past or present, or our school t-shirt, red and white. We are very excited to be a part of this year’s Terry Fox event. This is our opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those suffering from cancer as well as build school spirit. We hope you will join us as our school community works together in the fight against cancer.
Thank you in advance for your support!
Stay safe, stay strong!
Sincerely,
The Terry Fox Committee
Our Lady of the Rosary CES
