Shrove Tuesday

On Tuesday, March 1st, Our Lady of the Rosary CES will be serving some delicious pancakes, hot off the griddle for our students from JK to grade 8. Thank you Trustee J. Wigston and of course our fabulous Catholic School Council members and parent volunteers for helping the school to bring back Shrove Tuesday Pancake goodness for all! We also look forward to celebrating on this day with our school parish pastor, Monsignor O. Keenan.

This day, which comes before Ash Wednesday, is popularly known as Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday soon became a day for Confession and also a period of time for Catholics to consume eggs, sugar and dairy, items which are traditionally restricted during Lenten fasting.

On this day, according to a specific schedule, each class/cohort will be served fresh pancakes made from nut free and nut free and egg free batter and optional syrup. Individual utensils will be distributed. Please note that all students with specific allergies have been accounted for, and the preparation and handling of all pancakes and their distribution by our parent volunteers will strictly align with all current COVID-19 Health and Safety protocol and Food Premises Regulation 493/17.
