Dear Parents,
Each year we celebrate Family Literacy Week as a means to acknowledge the importance of reading and other literacy-related pursuits. The week-long celebration was developed by ABC Life Literacy Canada in 1999 to celebrate adults and children reading and learning together. It encourages Canadian families to spend at least 15 minutes a day enjoying an activity together. This year we will celebrate virtually from January 27 – February 2, 2021, and this year’s theme is “Travel the World Together.” Classroom teachers will have an interactive classroom posted in their classroom. Here you and your child can explore the world through readings, games, and other fun activities. In honour of Family Literacy Day, Our Lady Of The Rosary is planning to focus on, “OLR’s Family Recipes.” Participants are asked to share a family recipe and then take a picture of the family members cooking together. We will try to post the recipes in a book and share it in the OLR Virtual Library and possibly the yearbook. Some of us need new ideas for dinner! Let’s get cooking!!!
